Is it "Past" or "Passed?

Don’t know whether you “passed” the corner store or “past” it? Remember that you “passed” a location, but you remember the “past” as in time. Use “passed” as a physical happening (“She passed me the book.”) but, use “past” when talking about something you remember (“I passed it in the past.”)
